Try the Texas Barbecue Week plate special starting July 13th at Kreuz
July is a great time for Texas barbecue lovers.
Kreuz Market and some 50 other Texas barbecue restaurants are gearing up for the second annual Texas Monthly Barbecue Week 2014. Texas Monthly is hosting the BBQ event that runs from July 13-19. Texas Monthly Barbecue Week is a celebration of Texas’ smoked meats. All Texans can join in on the event by visiting Kreuz Barbecue to enjoy a special “Texas Barbecue Week plate.” Last year the event raised $10,000 to benefit Foodways Texas, which preserves the diverse food traditions of Texas. The event is a way to support the folks at Kreuz and other restaurants who are working hard to preserve the Texas barbecue tradition—and to eat some of the state’s best smoked meat. Texas Monthly is a key source for diners who want to discover and taste Texas barbecue. Kreuz has been smoking meat in Lockhart, Texas since 1900, long before barbecue’s modern day renaissance. Last year more than 50 BBQ joints took part in the first ever state-wide Texas Barbecue Week. During this week-long celebration of our culinary heritage, Texans everywhere will be invited to visit the participating joints featured in our June issue to enjoy an exclusive Texas Barbecue Week Plate.
